About Me

I'm a self-proclaimed Social Entrepreneur and "idea" person. I've been described as a "computer nerd with a personality". My purpose in life is to use my experience and skills to solve technical problems in the pursuit of helping others, help themselves. While putting myself through college I managed to graduate with High Honors and while having a Masters degree in Computer Engineering is "nice to have", having 40 years of experience in software development and dealing with clients, customers and stakeholders is more important. I love to learn and can pickup any technology, software tool/language/methodology/etc. quicker than most.

Software Engineering/Project Management - My software engineering and project management experience includes full-stack software development, telecommunications, satellite communications, custom IVR, wireless information services (EMBARC, iKno), micro-controllers, desktop apps, mobile apps, web sites, information retrieval, storage, analysis and delivery services, security services, encryption technologies, and much more...
Cloud Computing - My experience in all phases and aspects of software development and cloud computing is vast and constantly evolving. I thrive on providing solutions using "cloud technology" (I prefer AWS) and I firmly believe "private cloud computing architecture" is the future. I prefer "web apps" over traditional desktop apps. I prefer to use "Rapid Prototyping" methods to get solutions into the hands of stakeholders quickly in order to get valuable feedback as early in the process as possible. For UI/UX I prefer to use React and Dynamic component architectures.
Value-Added Leadership - I have experience in Negoatiating Large Contrats, Team Building, Client Relations, Training & Support, Business & IT Planning and Vendor Management.
Strengths - My greatest strength is my ability to come up with ideas while pursuing a strong desire to solve problems with "outside the box" thinking. Tell me what you need and I'll find solutions based on your goals and needs as quickly and efficiently as possible while keeping security, cost and quality concerns paramount. I will typically create software tools to improve processes that are inefficient.
Weaknesses - My greatest weakness is my tendency to get bored. I'm not proud of this "weakness"; however, I believe it can actually be a strength with the right group of people. I prefer to hand off projects and move onto "new ideas" as quickly as possible to keep the creative "juices" flowing.
Motivation - I put helping people over making money and believe strongly in practicing gratitude, paying it forward and giving before you get with honor and integrity.

Personal Projects

I'm very interested in helping others help themselves. Some topics that are of particular interest include alternative energy, sustainable living, natural healing:

  • Yourganics - A Garden in Every Home, sustainability
  • Health, Wealth, Service - Help others help themselves and others
  • Mobile Tiny Houses - quick, affordable, safe, temporary housing
  • Taming Your Monkey Mind - what every "idea" person needs
  • Second Chance Software - reduce recidivism
Second Chance Software - In the late 1990s I started a project called Second Chance Software. The goal was to help:
  • reduce the recidivism rate in the State of Florida,
  • reduce an inmates overall cost of incarnation,
  • help inmates' families and victims financially
  • provide a trust fund for the inmate so when they got out of prison they received more than a set of clothes and a bus ticket.
In 1999, my grandmother, Mary Jean Adams, received the Keeps on Ticking Award from Gov. Lawton Chiles. She received her college degree at the age of 86. At the Avon Park Correctional Institution, she inmates prepare for the world outside. I visited her at the prison and spoke with the inmates in her classes. It was clear to me that many of them would be released one day without the computer skills they needed and desired. I visited a conference in Texas and became disillusioned with the process when the companies that participated were only intested in profit.
A Garden in Every Home - What is better than Organic? The answer is Yourganic....growing your own organic fruits, vegetables and herbs. Over the past several years I've been designing an indoor/outdoor modularized garden system that requires no electricity, pumps, chemicals or high maintenance. These gardens are low cost, make use of reusable materials and are very easy to setup and maintain. Yourganics.com contains online resources and links for Green and Sustainable Living.
Health, Wealth, Service - I believe in Health, Wealth, Service. In order to be of service to as many people as possible you have to have your health (mind, body, spirit) and wealth (financial, people, resources, knowledge).
Mobile Tiny Houses - In my spare time I'm designing alternative, high-tech , mobile, all season Tiny Houses using SIP (structurally insulated panels) that can be erected in a matter of an hour or two (without tools) and provide enough space to fit a small family.
Taming Your Monkey Mind - As an "idea person" I find it difficult at times to stay focus. Life can be distracting and unpredictable. Staying focused on what's important in life can be difficult at time. I'm working on a web app to help people like me stay focused by "taming (training) their Monkey Mind".
Natural Healing - A few years ago I came across a product called MMS (Miracle Mineral Solution). MMS was discovered as a cure for Maleria and has received both praise and controversy as any "natural" healing method would. I personally used MMS for many health related issues. It works. My research led me to resources which opened my eyes. The shear number of chemicals we allow into our bodies is unimaginable. Someting as simple as deodorant can contain harmful chemicals that cause cancer. I decided to start making my own (yourganic) low cost, natural, organic deodorant, toothpaste, moisturizer and more. I hope to help others make their own health and beauty products. My goal is to show everyone how to make their own products. Should they decide to purchase a product then I would use the "Buy One, Give One" business model. For every product purchased another will be given to someone in need.
